Little City Foundation is a dynamic organization, which provides direct services to hundreds of individuals each and every day of the year. Our goal as an organization is to meet the needs of persons with mental retardation and other developmental challenges. Our accreditation and outcomes reflect the dynamism of our organization, the people we serve, and the communities within which we live and flourish.

Community Living ServicesThe agency received accreditation from CARF most recently in 2002. From this survey the following agency strengths were noted:
- Dedicated staff members.
- Self-expression, esteem building and community acceptance fostered through the agencies Multidisciplinary Arts Center.
- Regular meetings involving parents, family members and guardians occur to keep them informed of agency events.
- Strong, diverse and dedicated board of directors who demonstrate their commitment to the organization through their financial participation, as well as their contribution of time and talent.
- The agency has developed a local chapter of People First. This organization promotes training in self-advocacy for people receiving services.
- Wide variety of services including: transition from school to work, senior programming for aging individuals, recreation, sports groups and educational classes.
- Placement of individuals into more independent and individualized work sites where natural supports replace the efforts of paid staff members.
- Well established community-integrated living arrangement (CILA) homes which are individualized to the needs and preferences of the individuals served by the agency.
- A "med on time" pharmacy system which works well and helps eliminate medication errors.
- Exemplary Family Services Program which allows families to stay together under very challenging circumstances.
From the CARF survey some recommendations were also noted. They are as follows:
- Improve agency oversight functions, including strengthening financial controls.
- Improve staff consistency due to turnover rate in staff positions.
Little City Foundation will be re-surveyed by CARF in January 2005.
