Honoring Nancy and Timothy Desmond

Little City is honored and delighted to present Nancy and Timothy Desmond with the 2021 Humanitarian Award.

The award — given annually at the Little City Invitational — honors individuals who have made incredible contributions of time, talent and treasure to support and empower people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Nancy and Timothy embody those qualities to the fullest.

Nancy and Timothy have been lifelong professionals in the design/construction  and artistic worlds, creating art and developing buildings  and have used that experience and passion to better Little City. Timothy, using his  experience in corporate real estate, played a crucial role in the development of the Duffey Family Children’s Village. The design, development and construction of these state-of-the-art homes would not have been possible without his knowledge and dedication. The result of his work has and will continue to make a life-changing difference in the lives of children with developmental disabilities for decades to come. Nancy was instrumental in developing the custom wall tile designs made by Little City participants that is part of the children’s village homes and the Recreation Center.

Timothy continues his influential work as a member of the Little City Campus Planning Committee where he will help develop the future look of Little City.

Nancy has also found incredible success on the architectural side of real estate, including running her own design firm and art studio. It is her creative eye, networking and drive that has made her an enthusiastic member of Little City’s Annual Dinner Gala. With Nancy’s contributions, the Gala has become Little City’s premier fundraising and networking event. Her decade-plus experience with hands-on work in various committees for Little City has significantly grown the fundraising arm of Little City — both corporate and individually — to record levels.

Whether it is supporting fundraisers, major capital projects or programs like Special Olympics and other recreational services, the Desmond’s have extended their generosity to all those that call Little City home, including their son, Kevin. Their passion and drive to create a better future for all who step through Little City’s doors will be felt for years to come.

“Nancy and Timothy have done so much for Little City and continue to show that dedication each and every year,” said Shawn Jeffers, Little City Executive Director. “When people like the Desmond’s dedicate and donate so much of their knowledge, skill and resources to our mission, we grow in ways that would otherwise be impossible. They are true champions for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.”
