Fitness & Recreation

Recreation is an integral part of the overall quality of life of Little City’s residents. Our recreation team provides opportunities, classes, and programming that target the physical health and mental well-being of the individuals we serve. Along with the positive physical outcomes of these activities, the increased self-motivation and social interaction allow our individuals to learn more about their own potential, creating an increased sense of self-purpose.

The Ethel B. and Joel H. Sharenow Center for Fitness and Recreation includes a movie theater, game room, Fitness Center with equipment specifically designed for children and adults with disabilities and a pool with a wheelchair lift. The recreational activities offered provide a forum for our individuals to challenge themselves and explore activities in a safe, enjoyable and structured environment.

Fitness, recreation and Special Olympics training programs at Little City provide individuals with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities with valuable opportunities for team involvement, good sportsmanship and social skills. These programs create a healthy, fun and challenging environment. Little City athletes compete in nine sports, where individuals are encouraged to increase their performance abilities while improving their health and wellness.
