Vice President of Human Resources Operations
Karri Kartes serves as Vice President of Human Resources Operations at Little City, providing leadership and oversight across employee relations, compensation and benefits, compliance, and human resources systems.
She brings more than 20 years of human resources experience to the role, including five years as Director of Human Resources for the Illinois Housing Development Authority.
Karri was drawn to Little City by its mission and the opportunity to help create a workplace where employees are supported as they empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Her personal connection to the I/DD community through an aunt with Down syndrome gives special meaning to this work and strengthens her commitment to the organization’s purpose.
Karri is continually focused on learning from employees and participants across programs. She is inspired by the compassion, positivity, and dedication she sees throughout the organization and is committed to understanding team goals and identifying meaningful ways Human Resources can help employees succeed.
Karri brings a people-centered approach to Human Resources, combining extensive operational experience with a genuine desire to strengthen teams and support those who carry out Little City’s mission every day.
Karri earned her Bachelor of Arts from Western Illinois University and her Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law.
Outside of work, Karri enjoys live music, summer paddleboarding, and spending time with her two dogs.
