Sometimes it takes a little love from others to discover what you truly love.
That was the case for Alexis Nally who has only been with Little City for a little over a year and had never worked with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the past. She had never expected the Little City job to be a long-term fit as she was studying to go into physical education, but she has found herself falling more in love with the work every day. Her passion is clear to her managers and supervisors, who already have seen how she has gone above and beyond with the children in Larry’s Home to keep them engaged and help them explore the community.
“This was something totally different than I thought I would be doing. I never really thought about working in this field before but after trying it, I just kept falling in love with it. Every day is a different day in this job, and every kid is different. They all have different mentalities and mindsets and figuring that out in order to connect with them is a fun challenge. If they’re happy, I’m happy. I love taking the kids out into the community and trying new things- it really brightens their day.”
One child who has been with Alexis since the start is JoJo at Larry’s Home. Alexis said she’s been able to make a great connection with JoJo over her first year as he is always having fun being outside or going to new places in the community.
Thank you, Alexis, for all you do for the children at Little City!
