Meet Tammie Green
"It has been rewarding for me and I like to think I’ve rewarded the people I work with.”

Tammie Green brings all the love of a grandmother to her role as a Little City DSP.
A retired mortgage broker, Tammie never considered that DSP work would be in her future. But when her grandson was diagnosed with autism and struggled with many of the challenges commonly seen at Little City, such as non-verbal communication and emotional regulation, she decided to do all she could to support him and help him grow. More than five years after her retirement, she had seen incredible growth in her grandson and was inspired by the change that was possible for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
As a result of this experience, in March 2024, Tammie decided to take a DSP job at Little City and she has already made a powerful impact throughout the Countryside Center. Although it is her first official job in the I/DD field, Tammie has found herself as a primary teacher in the Autism Spectrum program, designed for those with the most profound disabilities. The challenge has been rewarding for Tammie, who said the relationships she’s built and the growth she’s witnessed has made the hard work worthwhile.
“I have a unique set of guys I work with that I look forward to seeing every day. They give me a challenge as much as I give them a challenge and we work to make their lives better. It’s a team effort across the board here. I can walk through any class and we all know each other and say hi. I talk with everyone and try to help any and all even outside my class. It has been rewarding for me and I like to think I’ve rewarded the people I work with.”
