About this Program
Recreation is essential to enhancing the quality of life for the individuals we serve. Our dedicated team offers a variety of classes and programs focused on improving physical health and mental well-being, promoting positive physical outcomes while fostering self-motivation and social interaction, and helping individuals discover their potential and develop a stronger sense of purpose.

Who We Serve
Children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including Little City residents, Community Day Services participants, students at our Center for Education, and community residents.
What To Expect
The Ethel B. and Joel H. Sharenow Center for Fitness and Recreation features a movie theater, game room, fitness center with specialized equipment for children and adults with disabilities. Activities include team and individual sports, music & art classes, cooking, dance, games, an indoor pool, gym, a workout facility, and more. These activities provide a safe, enjoyable, and structured environment where individuals can challenge themselves and explore new interests.



Special Olympics
Little City’s Special Olympics training programs offer individuals with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities the opportunity to participate in team sports, develop good sportsmanship, and build social skills. These programs create a healthy, fun, and challenging environment. Our athletes compete in 11 different sports, allowing them to enhance their performance while improving their overall health and wellness.
Sports include: Basketball, Flag Football, Bocce Ball, Swimming, Bowling, Power Lifting, Track and Field, Volleyball, Modified Volleyball, Golf and Softball
