Chief Human Resources Officer
Kelly Evans
WHY LITTLE CITY
“As a person with two siblings that have disabilities, I have really “grown up” in the disability world. It has been a part of my personal life from my earliest memories and became part of my professional life while in college at NIU when I got a job at a local agency as a DSP. I loved the work and several years later when I was looking for a part time job as a DSP to supplement my full time job, I was fortunate enough to find Little City for the first time.
Little City is truly an amazing organization and despite eventually moving on and working at several other agencies in various roles over the years, ultimately I had the opportunity to return to Little City in the Summer of 2021 and it felt like returning home. I am proud to be a part of the Little City family.”
Kelly has a BA in Psychology from NIU, Master’s Degree from SIU in Behavior Analysis & Therapy, Master’s Certificate in HR Management.
Kelly started off as a DSP in college, joined Little City for the first time in 2008 as a Program Manager (House Manager/Case Manager combo) in Adults. She worked in various other roles at Little City including overseeing the LEP day program (Life Enrichment) and as Director of Senior Residential and Day Services. Upon leaving Little City, she worked as a Residential Director at an agency in the South Suburbs for several years before moving into an HR role at Progressive Careers and Housing. She worked at Progressive for a little over 5 years and left that role as Senior Vice President of Human Resources. She rejoined Little City in June 2021.
She also worked as a CARF surveyor for a few years upon leaving Little City.
PERSONAL LIFE
I am the mom of three amazing kids: Logan (20), Avery (11), and Paige (8) and one adorable pup named Hazel Mae. I have been married to my husband, Paul, for 12 years. He is a Veteran and a therapist who has devoted his career to serving other veterans. I am an avid reader and reading is my primary means of unwinding after a long day. I have been known to say that I only have two seasons: pool season and fireplace season. Either location you will find me relaxing with a book! I love spending time with my family and look forward to being able to travel again post-Covid.
If you weren’t Chief Human Resources Officer at Little City, what would you most likely be doing?
I would be turning my hobby of reading into a career of some sort and either working in a library or an independent bookstore. In all I do, I want to serve others.
