Deputy Chief, Centralized Support Services
Theresa Moran
WHY LITTLE CITY
“I didn’t choose Little City, Little City chose me. When I was hired in 1999 to fill in for a Foster Care staff going on maternity leave, I never thought I’d be here more than two decades later. I’ve often described Little City as a family and truly believe it. My relationship with Little City is my longest relationship outside my parents and siblings.
I know the work we do here changes lives in ways that I both see and don’t see and am still always amazed and in awe at the accomplishments of our clients. Their impact on my life has made me a more caring, understanding, and tolerant person. Little City has given me the opportunity to meet with, work with, and advocate for the most remarkable people who have changed my life and my perspective on life.”
Theresa graduated with a master’s degree in social work and is currently licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in the State of Illinois. As a social worker, it has prepared Theresa to take on a variety of roles at Little City and bring value to the organization in many ways.
Theresa initially came to Little City in 1999 as the Licensing Representative in the Foster Care & Adoption Program in Chicago. She worked her way through the Foster Care Program in roles including licensing, case management, supervision and eventually as director of the program.
Eventually, Theresa was able to fully utilize her skills to strengthen Little City’s leadership. She assumed the role in quality assurance, centralized support services in 2009 and has brought Little City immense credibility as a leading service provider for individuals with disabilities.
PERSONAL LIFE
I can be described as a true introvert. Except for my husband, children, and a few close friends, I am happiest just being quiet. My passion is reading–so much so I’ve had books tattooed on my body. I also enjoy singing and all genres of music, but mainly country. I also find the time to go hiking and find joy in spending quality time with my kids. I have even taken up running 5Ks to connect with my teenage son!
If you weren’t Chief Program Officer at Little City, what would you most likely be doing?
My love of reading leads me to think I would be a book editor, writer, or support my favorite authors by creating series bibles. And even if others don’t agree, I can see myself as the next American Idol!
