Little City continued one of its longest traditions this fall as 100 golfers came out to the 57th Annual Little City Invitational Golf Classic. The event, commonly held in the summer, was moved to Sept. 24 this year because of Covid-19 restrictions, but even the ongoing challenges of the pandemic could not stop golfers from giving in a big way as they combined to raise over $120,000 for Little City.

While there were plenty of changes to the event, from a limited number of golfers to a fully outdoor reception, the passion and commitment to supporting Little City remained the same.

“The LCI is one of Little City’s proudest traditions and this year was even more special because it was our first in-person fundraiser since Covid-19 restrictions began in March,” said Shawn Jeffers, Executive Director. “The persistence it took to make this happen and the dedication of all the golfers to come out to the event is just another example of how special our supporters are.”

Twin Orchard Country Club once again hosted the event highlighted by the participation of Chicago sports legend Ryne Sandberg and the honoring of Humanitarian Award recipient Jeff Krug. As founder of J. Krug & Associates, a risk management and employee benefits consulting firm, Jeff has put community philanthropy at the top of his firm’s priorities. He has been a champion of Little City for years and has generously dedicated his time, talent and treasure as a member of the Board of Directors.

“Little City has meant a lot to me and it has been a privilege to contribute to all the great work they do,” Jeff said. “It’s an honor to receive this award and it’s great to see so many people here supporting Little City so they can keep delivering services to the people who need it.”
