Students with disabilities need your help to learn, grow, and thrive!

A note from our Chief Executive Officer

Dear Little City Family and Friends,

What a holiday season we had at Little City! Seeing the joy on the faces of those we serve has been a tremendous gift and a daily reminder about the importance of the work that we do here every day.

From staff and volunteers transforming the campus into a winter wonderland, to holiday parties at Countryside Center and a magical Polar Express at the school, the holiday cheer was contagious throughout Little City! But the joy and happiness we see here doesn’t happen only during the holiday season, it happens every day because of people like you.

Your support throughout the year has helped Little City achieve truly remarkable things. Adult day programming grew throughout the year with the Center for Employment & Business Opportunities receiving a renovation and the horticulture program growing to include more vocational work for participants. In the spring, we fully renovated a softball field on campus that has already helped create incredible memories for our Special Olympians and recreation participants.

The school year started with the highest number of students in the history of Little City and an expanded THRIVE program that helps those with the most profound developmental disabilities receive the classroom support they deserve. And now we are only a month or two away from finishing the fifth and sixth homes in the Duffey Family Children’s Village, which will help address a growing waitlist of families with loved ones who need the kind of dynamic and supportive environment these homes provide.

All of this is possible because of you! The smiles you help bring to those we serve last far beyond the holidays, and the difference you make in their lives lasts a lifetime. Little City has big goals in 2024, from helping seniors with developmental disabilities thrive in environments specially designed for them, to placing more people with developmental disabilities in community employment with job opportunities they deserve.

No matter the dream or goals that await, we know they are possible because of the great community of people who believe in our mission.

Thank you for all you have done. You are truly the greatest gift to Little City, and we would not be where we are today without all of you!

On behalf of everyone at Little City, we wish you a wonderful new year ahead filled with promise and hope.

Sincerely,

Marie Newman
