Little City would like to give a HUGE congratulations to Terri Nelles who was recently recognized as the Certified Employment Support Professional of the Year by the Association of People Supporting Employment First during its annual conference in Denver. Terri, who has been advocating for and helping people with developmental disabilities find community employment for more than 30 years, stood out among hundreds of other job coaches around the nation to win the prestigious award.

Little City Resource Coordinator Anna Bowen, who nominated Terri for the award, said Terri has been a mentor to her and every other job coach at Little City, constantly providing resources so everyone on the team can become certified employment specialists. Anna said Terri has set the standard for what it means to be a job coach, not only working with her clients but educating employers on the importance and benefits of hiring people with developmental disabilities.

“In every single way, she goes above and beyond,” Anna said. “This really is her life’s work and she does all she can to make a more inclusive work environment for people with developmental disabilities. She is the best mentor and example we could ever have.”
